DIMARIA'S BRACE NOT ENOUGH AGAINST ANNA MARIA

PAXTON, MASS. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell to Anna Maria in their Monday conference match up by a score of 3-2.

Rapid Recap:
  • Both teams were able to find the back of the within the first 90 seconds of play with Sophomore, Judson DiMaria (Acton, Mass.) scoring off an assist from First year, Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.) to put the Chargers up early. Seconds later, Anna Maria was awarded a penalty kick that they were able to put in net to tie the game 1-1 in the first minute and a half.
  • Chargers put on a lot of pressure after the tie taking shot after shot, until Anna Maria countered and put another goal in to take the lead 2-1 with 30 minutes to go in the first half.
  • Game continued to go back and forth for the rest of the first half with the Chargers putting up shots and adding a lot of pressure to the defense of Anna Maria. The Chargers tallied six more shots in the half, but Anna Maria was stopping everything ounce of pressure.
  • The Chargers fell behind 3-1 early in the second half, but did not let up the pressure they were applying to one of the top teams in the GNAC this season. DiMaria added another goal to his day as he cut the deficit in half to make it 3-2.
  • The Chargers final efforts got stopped as Anna Maria came away with the victory in a tough, well played game by the Chargers.
Inside the Numbers:
  • DiMaria has scored 3 of the last 5 Chargers goals over the span of three games bringing his total of the year to 4 which currently leads the Chargers.
  • The Chargers took 21 shots total as a team in the game, which is their second most they've had this season.
  • Riley-Perec picked up his second career assist of his young career on DiMaria's first goal.
