Chargers Open GNAC Play with 9-0 Win Over Albertus Magnus

Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Chargers men's tennis team picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season on Saturday with a 9-0 win over Albertus Magnus. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers swept the doubles action against the Falcons to take an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore Zsombor Homonnay (Dunakeszi, Hungary) and sophomore Ashton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) picked up a 8-1 win in number one doubles. Junior Aidan Jensen (Essex, Vt.) and sophomore Peyton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) added a 8-0 win in the second doubles slot, while sophomore Matthew Gaudioso (Branford, Conn.) and first year Markus Rankins (Latham, N.Y.) won by a 8-6 final in the number three spot. 
  • Homonnay and P. Meuse each cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 wins in number one and number two singles. A. Meuse continued the Chargers scoring with a 6-2, 6-2 win in #3 singles, while Gaudioso, Rankins and senior Cohl Schusler (Bradford, N.H.) all won to secure the sweep.

The Chargers will stay on the road tomorrow to take on Roger Williams University with a 12:00 PM start.
