NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer baseball team picked up win number 22 on Monday defeating Plymouth State University by a 15-4 final in non-conference action.

- Sophomore Nick Johnson (Manchester, N.J.) kicked off the game with a bang hitting a three-run home run in the bottom half of the first inning to give the Chargers the early advantage. Colby-Sawyer continued to add runs in the bottom of the third getting four runs on five hits. It started with an RBI ground out to score sophomore Cam Carignan (Rutland, Mass.). Sophomore Finn MacLennan (Ipswich, Mass.) added the next run on an BI single before first year Jesse Chaves (Taunton, Mass.) tripled and sophomore Mike Krouse (Peabody, Mass.) added a final ribby single. In the top of the fourth the Panthers finally got on the board scoring three runs on three hits to trim the deficit to 7-3.
- In the middle innings neither team could find the plate with Johnson plating an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead back to 8-3. In the seventh the Chargers added three more with graduate student Cooper O'Brien (Vergennes, Vt.) getting an RBI single while two others scored on an error. In the eighth the Panthers mustered the final run for the visitors on an RBI double. Colby-Sawyer got four more runs of insurance in the bottom of the frame with zero hits in the inning.
On the Mound:
- First year Evan Dennis (East Ryegate, Vt.) got the start going four innings allowing three runs with two strikeouts. Sophomore Marshall Donahue (Montpelier, Vt.) picked up the win going four strong innings allowing just a single run with a pair of punch outs. Junior Jack Mullen (Norfolk, Mass.) closed it out hurling an inning with a punch out.
At the Plate:
- Johnson was unbelievable going 4-for-4 with five RBIs, a home run, two runs scored and a stolen base. O'Brien went 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored. Carignan added a 1-for-2 day with three walks and two runs scored.
