Chargers Struggle on Day Two of Florida Trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Orlando, FLA. – The Chargers men's tennis team fell to Illinois Wesleyan (4-5), and the United States Coast Guard Academy (1-8) on Monday. 

Rapid Recap (Illinois Wesleyan 4-5):
  • The Chargers fell early 0-3 after doubles sessions were swept by Illinois Wesleyan, 8-3, 8-6, and 8-7, 7-4. 
  • Sophomore  Zsombar Homonnay (Dunakeszi, Hungary) secured the first win for the Chargers defeating Ryan McCoy 6-4, 6-1 in the second slot of singles. The Chargers saw two more with in the 4th and 5th slots with Junior Aidan Jenson (Essex, Vt.) winning the fourth slot 6-4,6-4 and first year Leonardo Russo (Barcelona, Spain) snagging the fifth 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. 
Rapid Recap (United States Coast Guard Academy 1-8):
  • Russo found the only win for the Chargers in their second match in the sixth slot of singles winning 6-0 and 6-4.

The Chargers will take on Washington State (Md.) in Orlando Day Three on Tuesday.
