Chargers Race in New England Indoor Track & Field Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer track & field team competed in the NCAA Division III New England Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at the New Balance Track in Boston. The women's team finished in 25th place, while the men's team did not have a team score. 

Rapid Recap:
  • The women's distance medley kicked off the day for Colby-Sawyer placing in 21st at a time of 14:24.46. Representing the Chargers was junior Samantha Carus (Brownfield, Maine), junior Tessa Millette (Barrington, N.H.), sophomore Leah O'Neill (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.). 
  • The men's distance medley followed as the Chargers placed in 20th at a mark of 11:06.89. Colby-Sawyer's participants included first year Cameron Cook (Montpelier, Vt.), senior Jordan Kofos (Kittery, Maine), junior Jonathan Platti (North Granby, Conn.) and junior Hayden Goyette (Epsom, N.H.). 
  • Senior Chase Adams (Brookline, N.H.) was next up for the Chargers coming in 26th in the 60-meter hurdles event at a time of 8.91. 
  • Senior Ashley Keleher (Mashpee, Mass.) followed in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.42 good for 5th place. 
  • Sophomore JJ Davis (Bradford, N.H.) competed in the 200 meter dash at a time of 22.72 for a 23rd place finish.
  • The final event for the women was the 4x800 meter relay coming in 20th place at a time of 11:12.52. First year Maisy Hill (Bristol, Vt.) joined Millette, Nadeau and O'Neill in the event. 
  • The final event for the men's team pulled out a program record finishing the 4x400 meter dash at a time of 3:29.26 good for 18th place. Senior Joseph Branchaud (Tewksbury, Mass.) joined Adams, Davis and Kofos to tie the record from last years relay team.
Post Meet Press:
"Coming back from a big event-load at GNACs, it's tough to double-back in a week's time", said head coach Ryan Purrington. "In spite of that, we had a ton of folks show up and compete with the best that Division-III New England have to offer with some of their top times this season and we now have a solid crew who will be moving on to the NEICAAA Championships next week."

The Chargers will compete in the NEICAAA (All-New England) Championships back in Boston on Sunday Feb. 25th.
