CHARGERS FALL SHORT IN 3-2 BATTLE AGAINST SAINTS

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell Saturday afternoon by a 3-2 final to Emmanuel College.
Rapid Recap:  
  • The Chargers struck first on the offensive attack as sophomores Kaden Lewis (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Judson DiMaria (Acton, Mass.) and senior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoisett, Mass.) fired shots of their own before Lewis found the back of the net in the 27th minute to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead over the Saints. The Saints continued to battle late in the first half firing four shots on target, but junior goalkeeper Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) made key saves to give the Chargers the 1-0 lead heading into the half. 
  • The Saints continued to fight back and would score their first goal of the game in the 56th minute to tie the game at 1-1. The Chargers take control on the offensive end with a shot that was sent out wide by first-year Colin Riley-Perec (Plymouth, Mass.). Lewis would score his second goal of the day in the 70th minute to give the Chargers the 2-1 lead late in the second half. The Saints would respond seven minutes later and tie the game 2-2 with a goal from Pierre-Paul Labossiere. The Chargers and Saints would trade shots back and forth throughout the second half before the Saints would score their third goal of the game in the 87th minute and take the 3-2 lead. The Chargers had one last opportunity with a corner kick, but were unable to score a goal as the final whistle blew in the 90th minute with the Saints taking the 3-2 victory. 



Inside The Numbers:  
  • The Saints outshot the Chargers 17-9 with 11-3 shots on target differential.  
  • Sophomore Brayden Rapoza (New Durham, N.H.) and Riley-Perec would each chip in an assist for the Chargers. 
  • Bartolon played the full 90 minutes for the Chargers and recorded eight saves.  


 
Up Next:   
The Chargers conclude the regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Northfield, Vermont to take on the Cadets of Norwich University with a 7:00 PM start.
