CHARGERS CELEBRATE SENIORS EN ROUTE TO 3-0 WIN

NEW LONDON, N.H - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team celebrated the careers of their 4 seniors Saturday afternoon against the Anna Maria Amcats where they won in dominant fashion 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-13).

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers opened set 1 charging to a 10-1 lead early, taking a very commanding lead. The Chargers, able to capitalize on the Amcats mistakes had three different players have a kill with five total to lead the way to this commanding lead all assisted by Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.). The Chargers momentum carried throughout the set still capitalizing on every Amcat mistake and racking up point after point until they took the first set 25-13
  • The second set was more dominant than the first as the Chargers went on to score 11 unanswered points starting the set up 12-1. Audra Fontes (Fresno, Cali.) led the way for the Chargers in this set as she recorded four service aces to make the game wide open. Momentum never went away as the Chargers opened up their lead to 19-5 in dominant fashion as they did not let up the pressure. They would come away with the second set 25-7.
  • The third set would see a lot more pressure from the Chargers as they scored another 7 unanswered points to open up the match for the third consecutive set. This run by the Chargers would continue as they would go on to put together another string of points multiple times to make the match 18-7. Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) would lead the Chargers with multiple kills near the end of the third set, while the team would take the match after a 25-13 score.
