NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball finished off a 2-0 week in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), securing a 79-78 win at home Saturday night.
Rapid Recap:
- First year Sean Peterson (Chester, N.H.) kicked off the game with a post finish to give Colby-Sawyer an early lead. Junior Owen Morse (Shelbourne Falls, Mass.) knocked down a three to keep the offense rolling at 6-2. Junior Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C.) added five-straight points to keep Colby-Sawyer in front, but a 7-2 run by the Bulldogs gave the visitors the lead at 18-17 with 9:16 to play in the first half. Junior Nick Grant (Houston, Texas) answered with a three of his own to keep the home team in front. Dean retaliated with a 7-0 spurt to grab a five-point lead with under four minutes to go in the first half. Junior Chaz Cullum (Omaha, Neb.) laced a three to cut the deficit to just a single bucket, but the Bulldogs held strong getting a 39-32 lead into the break.
- The lead hit double-figures for the first time in the second half as the Bulldogs started with a 6-2 run, but another three for Grant tried to get the Chargers back in the game. Dean kept the lead at a game-high 12 with timely buckets with 15:06 to play. Junior Mike Joanou (Burbank, Calif.) and Grant each laced three-pointers to quickly drop the lead down to just six points. The lead stayed steady at seven points with 10 minutes to play, but sophomore Sadiq Abdullahi (Homestead, Fla.) hit a clutch three to kick start a 6-0 run to drop the lead to a single point. Junior Bullen Taban (Phoenix, Ariz.) threw down a put-back dunk and another layup to give the Chargers the lead back with under five minutes to play but the Bulldogs were relentless taking the lead back at 75-71 with 3:22 left. Peterson and Joanou each drilled threes to keep the game within one point with under a minute to play. After a miss by the Bulldogs, Cullum found Taban for the game-winning bucket with 53 seconds left as the defense locked in for the 79-78 win.

Chaz Cullum (Omaha, Neb.). "It was our second conference win of the season, we are just trying to keep stacking them together and pick up where we left off on Wednesday and continue it into this week."
Inside the Numbers:
- Cullum put in an all-around performance with 12 points (5-12 FG, 1-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), four steals, four assists and four rebounds. Parker led the scoring output with 15 points (6-19 FG, 2-8 3PT, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and a pair of assists. Taban registered 12 points (6-10 FG, 0-2 FT) and 13 rebounds, while Grant added 13 points (5-16 FG, 3-6 3PT, 0-1 FT), four assists and three rebounds.
- AJ Weston paced the Bulldogs with 21 points (9-13 FG, 3-3 3PT) and six assists, while Charles Walker added 20 points (8-14 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two steals.
- The Chargers laced a season-high 12 three pointers on a 38.7% clip, while also getting 21 second chance points in the win.
