FRANKLIN, Mass. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team fell again on Wednesday night by a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 26-24) final to Dean.
Rapid Recap:
- The Bulldogs jumped to a 7-4 lead early in the first set stopped by a kill by first year by Delaney Skourtis (Tilton, N.H.). Another 3-0 run sparked by junior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) got the Chargers within one single point and after another 3-0 run the Chargers took the lead by a 15-14 margin on a service ace by junior Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.). Dean responded with seven-consecutive points en route to a 25-19 win.
- Â Colby-Sawyer jumped ahead by a 4-1 lead behind a kill by first year Haley Hathorn (Hillsboro, N.H.) and an ace by senior Maria Avila (Goffstown, N.H.). The lead grew to 12-5 on another kill by senior Abby Williams (Brentwood, N.H.), but the Bulldogs countered with a 8-0 run to jump ahead. The Chargers jumped back in front on a 5-1 run to hold a 18-15 lead, but Dean closed things out on a 10-5 run to win 25-23.Â
- The third set saw the Chargers holding a 9-8 lead on a pair of kills by Majenski, but the Bulldogs jumped ahead by a 22-15 lead. A 7-0 run by the visitors tied things up with three more kills to Majenski, but Dean closed things out to win 26-24.Â
Inside the Numbers:
- Majenski led the offense with seven kills and two digs. Mollberg followed with six kills and nine digs, while Williams added six kills.Â
- Junior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.)Â led the passing with 21 assists and nine digs.
- Defensively junior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) led the way with 14 digs, while Avila added 11. Â
