STANDISH, Maine
– The Colby-Sawyer women's track and field team competed at 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship over the weekend hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The Chargers finished third out of five teams after collecting 119 points.
Rapid Recap:
- Junior Ashley Keleher (Mashpee, Mass.) secured two first place finishes for the Chargers at the GNAC Championship in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Keleher also captured first place in the triple jump event with a mark of 10.06-meters and second place in the long jump with a mark of 4.66-meters.
- In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Heather Hanson (Barnstable, Mass.) came in first place after crossing the finish line in an impressive 12:29.28, about three seconds off from the Colby-Sawyer school record.
- First year Kate Cochran (North Sutton, N.H.) clinched second overall in the 100-meter hurdles after clocking in at 17.16. Cochran also ran the 200-meter dash coming in fifth place with a time of 29.12
- Sophomore Tessa Millette took third place in the 800-meter run after finishing with a time of 2:41.38. She also competed in the 5,000-meter run placing fifth with a time of 20:49.99.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, first year Courtney Larson (Auburn, Maine) placed fourth overall after finishing with a time of 1:22.19.
- In the 4x400-meter relay, Colby-Sawyer captured a first place finish featuring Keleher, Larson, sophomore Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.), and sophomore Chloe Makela (York, Maine) with a time of 4:47.09. The Chargers also earned a second place finish in the 4x100-meter relay with Cochran, Brewster, Keleher, and junior Anna Bieszczad (Grantham, N.H.) with a time of 54.20
- In the field events, Bieszczad finished in fourth place in the triple jump event with a mark of 9.07-meters. Cochran came in third in the high jump event with a mark of 1.42-meters with Brewster following in fourth place with a mark of 1.37-meter. In the discus throw event, junior Faith Mazzapica (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed fourth after throwing 26.45-meter mark and also came in ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 30.11-meters.
