Chargers Defeat University of Saint Joseph 7-2

Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team defeated the University of Saint Joseph by a final score of 7-2 on Saturday. The Chargers improve to a 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record with the victory over the Bluejays.  

Rapid Recap:
  • The Chargers grabbed an early 2-1 advantage against the Bluejays in doubles action. Sophomore Aidan Jensen (Essex, Vt.) and first year Zsombor Homonnay (Dunakeszi, Hungary) secured the win in number one doubles while first year Ashton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) and senior Kham Savatdy (Woonsocket, R.I.) defeated their opponents by an 8-5 final score in number two doubles.
  • Colby-Sawyer continued their dominance by sweeping the Bluejays 5-0 in singles action with strong performances by Homonnay and first year Peyton Meuse (Newport, N.H.). Jensen battled in the number two slot defeating Marko Karpyuk to help Colby-Sawyer get the victory over the Bluejays by a 7-2 final score.
Athlete Spotlight:
"Everyone came through in an important league match to get the job done," said sophomore Aidan Jensen (Essex, Vt.). "A great way to make it four in a row."

The Chargers have a quick turnaround hosting Castleton University on Sunday, April 16th for their Senior Day match starting at 1:00 PM.
