Chargers Wrap Up Second Outdoor Meet at Tufts University

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's track and field team competed at the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday hosted by Tufts University.

Rapid Recap:
  • Junior Ashley Keleher (Mashpee, Mass.) earned two first-place finishes at the meet in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.62 as well as the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.20. Keleher sets a new 200-meter dash outdoor school record improving from her previous best at last week's Bridgewater State Invitational by 0.04 seconds.  
  • In the women's 10,000-meter run, first year Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.) finished in eighth place with a time of 45:43.06.
  • First year Katie Cochran (North Sutton, N.H.) placed nineth overall in the 100-meter hurdles prelims after clocking in at 17.08.
  • Senior Shannon O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) led Colby-Sawyer in the 1,500-meter run with a 30th place finish. Following closely behind her was sophomore Tessa Millette (Barrington, N.H.) clocking in at 5:27.95 for 34th place and sophomore Samantha Carus (Brownfield, Maine) in 5:45.90 for 39th place. Millette also competed in the 800-meter run finishing in 35th place with a time of 2:43.28.
  • In the field events, sophomore Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) secured 12th place in the high jump event with a mark of 1.42-meters. Senior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) placed 28th overall in the long jump with a mark of 3.92-meters. In the triple jump event, junior Anna Bieszczad (Grantham, N.H.) took 14th place after jumping 9.58-meters. Junior Faith Mazzapica (Tewksbury, Mass.) competed in both the discus throw finishing in 15th place as well as the hammer throw placing ninth overall.
  • For the 4x100-meter relay event, the Chargers secured sixth place with a time of 54.59 featuring Cochran, Brewster, Keleher, and Bieszczad.

"Today, everyone had strong performances," said first year Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.) "Even though the weather wasn't ideal we pushed through and ran hard."
 
Up Next:
The Colby-Sawyer outdoor track and field team will travel to Springfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 8th for their next meet hosted by Springfield College.
