FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team picked up their fourth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win on Friday, defeating Dean College by a 17-12 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers trailed early as the Bulldogs earned a quick 2-0 lead three minutes into the game. Junior Olivia Romo (Marlboro, Vt.) picked up the first goal with a rocket past the Dean goalkeeper. Dean continued its early success taking a 3-1 lead, but after another goal by Romo the Chargers would head into the second quarter trailing 3-2.
- The Bulldogs doubled the lead again putting one past sophomore AJ Paton (Exeter, N.H.), but the Chargers responded with back-to-back goals by sophomore Sophia Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) and first year Cecilia Ponzini (Windham, N.H.) to tie the game at 4-4. The teams traded goals once more with Kuhlthau getting her second of the day, but after Dean took a 6-5 lead the Chargers battled back with two-straight goals to take a 7-6 lead into the break. Romo and Kuhlthau each tallied hat-tricks in the first half to get the lead for the visitors.
- The Bulldogs tied up the game at 7-7 just 35 seconds into the second half, but sophomore Heather Hanson (Barnstable, Mass.) broke the tie with her first goal of the game. Hanson picked up the next goal to grow the lead to 9-7, before senior Sydney Stevens (Laconia, N.H.) finished home the next two scores to push the lead to four. Senior Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.) finished off the 5-0 run with goal number 10 on the year. Dean countered with two-straight goals and after a caused turnover and ground ball by sophomore Hannah Himes (Williston, Vt.), Hanson finished home a pass from first year Elena Bronson (Bristol, Vt.) to keep the lead at five. First year Molly Dishong (Francestown, N.H.) finished off the third quarter finishing a feed from Ponzini.
- Ponzini kicked off the fourth quarter on a pass from Hanson to extend the lead to a game-high six goals. Dean put up one last fight with two consecutive goals, but Marquis put the game away with a goal from Ponzini. The Bulldogs finished one last goal, but Stevens put the game away for good with the 17th goal for the Chargers.

Stats & Figures:
- Hanson led the offense with three goals and two assists. Heather also notched eight draws, four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Stevens was next with three goals and an assist. Kuhlthau and Romo each added hat-tricks, while Ponzini added two goals and two assists.
- Himes led the defense with five caused turnovers and six ground balls. Sophomore Rylee McGrath (Londonderry, N.H.) added two more caused turnovers and four ground balls.
- Paton picked up her sixth win of the year making nine saves.
