Chargers Begin Outdoor Season at Bridgewater State Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer men's track and field team started their outdoor season this Saturday at the Bridgewater Sates Bears Invitational hosted by Bridgewater State University.

Rapid Recap:
  • Junior Chase Adams (Brookline, N.H.) began the outdoor season with a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles after clocking in at 16.64. Sophomore Achius Wolfley (Lords Valley, Pa.) also competed in the race placing 12th overall with a time of 19.70.
  • In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) earned a second place finish for the Chargers with a time of 15:51.67. 
  • Sophomore Daniel Magill (Billerica, Mass.) ran in the 3,000-metter steeplechase placing third with a time of 13:01.61.
  • In the 200-meter dash, first year JJ Davis (Bradford, N.H.) secured a sixth-place finish after clocking in with a time of 23.40. Coming in 20th place was sophomore Jordan Kofos (Kittery, Maine) with a time of 24.63.
  • Four Chargers competed in the 400-meter dash with Kofos leading the way after finishing 13th overall with a time of 55.72. Sophomore Jesse Gushee (West Linn, Ore.) came in 14th place with a time of 55.91. Rounding out the race for Colby-Sawyer was sophomore Aidan Weagle (Hudson, Mass.) finishing in 21st place and senior Tristan McNight (South Burlington, Vt.) finishing in 28th place.
  • In the 100-meter dash, Davis secured 10th place after clocking in at 11.92. Junior Joseph Branchaud (Tewksbury, Mass.) secured 18th overall with a time of 12.08 while first year Kyle Gassiraro and senior Dean Miller rounded out the event for the Chargers.
  • In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Hayden Goyette (Epsom, N.H.) clocked in at 4:23.61 to take 20th place overall.
  • Sophomore Daniel Castriotta (Barre, Mass.) came in 28th place in the 800-meter run after finishing with a time of 2:33.16.

Athlete Spotlight:
"Today was tough, but we all gritted our teeth and performed to the best of our abilities," said junior Chase Adams (Brookline, N.H.). "All in all, it was a great start to the spring season. I'm expecting a lot of personal records out of everybody this season."

The Colby-Sawyer outdoor track and field team will compete in their next meet on Saturday, April 1st at the Tufts Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts University.
