Box Score MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, Mass.
– The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team kicked off the spring season on the right foot on Wednesday, defeating Gordon College in a 5-4 thriller.
Rapid Recap:
- In the doubles portion of the night the Chargers took an early 2-1 advantage. First year Zsombor Homonnay (Dunakeszi, Hungary) and sophomore Aidan Jensen (Essex, Vt.) dominated in a 8-3 win in number one doubles. Senior Kham Savatdy (Woonsocket, R.I.) and first year Ashton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) added the other win for the Chargers picking up a 8-4 victory in number two doubles.
- In singles action the Chargers picked up victories in the number three, four and five singles slots using their depth to clinch the victory. First year Peyton Meuse (Newport, N.H.) started things off with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in number three singles. A.Meuse added a 6-1, 6-3 win in number four doubles to leave the Chargers need one final point.
- Colby-Sawyer closed things out as Savatdy picked up a 6-7, 6-4, 10-7 victory in number five singles closing out the opening match win in the spring season.
Athlete Spotlight:
"The energy was insane from the team," said senior
Kham Savatdy (Woonsocket, R.I.). "Everyone was yelling all the way until match point. I definitely fed off their energy and had to leave the court with a win for the guys. Honestly one of the best matches of my life."

The Chargers will be back in action at the Manchester Athletic Club on Saturday, facing off with Endicott College at 2:00 PM.
