WESTON, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team continued their winning ways on Saturday defeating Regis College by a 61-52 final. The Chargers have now won an impressive six of their last eight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contests including being 2-0 in the month of February.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers took an early 7-2 advantage after a jumper by sophomore Gabby Lucertini (Branford, Conn.), a layup by first year Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) and a three-pointer by sophomore Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.). Regis battled back to cut the lead to 10-8, but another layup by sophomore Natalie Panagrosso (Wallingford, Conn.) kept the Chargers in front, before another shot from deep by Molettieri closed the half with Colby-Sawyer leading 15-10.
- Sophomore Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) started off the second quarter on fire knocking down three-straight trifectas, but the Pride countered with a 7-0 run to keep the game at a 24-17 Charger lead. Molettieri continued to knock down her three-pointers netting another to push the lead back to double-digits. Regis closed the half with a 6-2 run to close the half trailing 29-23.
- In the third quarter the lead was trimmed to just a single bucket, but again Molettieri knocked down another triple to keep the lead at five points. A 5-0 counter ensued by the home team to tie the game at 32-32, but another three by Holt sparked a 7-1 run to keep the Chargers lead at six points. The Pride contunued to push back cutting the lead to five points, but another three this time by senior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) kept the lead at 44-37 headed into the final frame.
- In the fourth quarter the Chargers pushed the lead to ten points again as Parent hit another deep three from the top of the key. The Pride responded once again with a 7-2 spurt to cut the lead in half but an and-one layup by Lucertini kept the visitors on top. Another three from Holt and a layup by Panagrosso put the game out of reach for Regis as the Chargers held on for the 61-52 victory.

Stats & Figures:
- Holt continued her shooting streak with another 17 points (6-13 FG, 5-9 3-FG, 0-2 FT) performance to go with seven assists and three rebounds. Molettieri also was key today registering 16 points (5-9 FG, 4-7 3-FG, 2-2 FT) to go with three rebounds and two steals. Mitchell tallied a huge performance with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-3 FT), seven rebounds, a career-high seven assists and a pair of swipes. Lucertini added an all-around effort with nine points (2-7 FG, 0-4 3-FG, 5-7 FT), four rebounds three assists and two steals.
- Madi Zancan led the way for Regis ending the day with 19 points (8-18 FG, 1-5 3-FG, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
- The Chargers used hot shooting behind the arc to pick up the win going 45.8% (11-24) from behind the arc compared to 35.3% (6-17) from the Pride.

The Chargers will host Saint Joseph's College of Maine in a rescheduled game on February 6th with a 5:30 PM start.
