NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell to Norwich University on Tuesday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest by a 66-58 final score.

- The Cadets got an early 7-0 advantage to start the first quarter of the game. Sophomore Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) finished a jumper off the assist from senior Lia Raynowska (Brentwood, N.H.) to put the Chargers on the score board. Following a good layup by Haley Brewster, sophomore Megan Molettieri (Pelham, N.H.) made a layup to make it 9-5. Sophomore Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) got to the free throw line after being fouled by Maren McGinn and completed both attempts to bring the score to 9-7. The Cadets went on an 8-0 run thanks to Brewster hitting two three pointers and jumper to give them a 17-7 led. The Chargers closed the gap to 17-12 after senior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine), Holt, and Brewster each got the free throw line to end the quarter.
- In the second quarter, Norwich got their led back into double digits following a good triple by Brewster. Colby-Sawyer's offensive continued to battle as Brewster would go on to score the next seven points for the Chargers featuring an and-one bucket to make it 27-19. Raynowska secured the final two points of the quarter off two good free throws to end the first half at 34-25.
- Holt kicked off the third quarter by draining a three ball off the assist from first year Elyza Mitchell (Spofford, N.H.) bringing the score to 34-28. Colby-Sawyer narrowed the Cadets led to four points following a driving layup by sophomore Gabby Lucertini (Brandford, Conn.). Norwich pushed their attack going on an 8-2 run, restoring their 10-point advantage to end the third quarter.
- Brewster finished one free throw after getting fouled by Rachel Botala early in the fourth quarter to make it 44-35. Sophomore Natalie Panagrosso completed a layup with 6:43 remaining in the quarter bringing the score to 48-39. A three-pointer form Silas Bernier extended the Cadets led to 13-points, but Molettieri responded by hitting two triples to keep the Chargers within striking distance. Under two minutes left in the quarter, Parent drained a three pointer off the assist from Lucertini to make it 59-51. Both teams exchanged free throws to end the quarter with Norwich getting the win with a 66-58 final score.
Stats & Figures:
- Brewster led the Chargers in scoring with 20 points (5-7 FG, 10-13 FT) along with six rebounds, and an assist. Holt (3-10 FG, 1-4 3-FG, 3-4 FT) and Molettieri (3-9 FG, 2-6 3-FG, 2-3 FT) each ended the day with 10 points apiece.
- Brewster dropped 35 points (11-25 FG, 4-10 3-FG, 9-10 FT) for the Cadets to go along with five rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
- The Cadets outshot the Chargers 41.4% to 39.5% from the field but Colby-Sawyer held a 30-2 margin over Norwich in points off the bench.
