GNAC Playoffs Preview: #10 Chargers Take On #7 Emmanuel in GNAC Play-In

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team is ready to be back in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs after a three-year hiatus as the Chargers take on Emmanuel in the play-in round on Monday in Boston.
 
No. 10 COLBY-SAWYER CHARGERS (7-23, 5-10 GNAC)
No. 7 EMMANUEL SAINTS (16-10, 9-6 GNAC)
 
Game Headlines:
This is the first Charger playoff match in 1,462 days when Colby-Sawyer fell to Suffolk University on November 5th, 2019. In their previous meeting this season the Chargers fell by a 3-0 final on October 25th in New London. 
 
Colby-Sawyer Headlines:
  • The Chargers ended the regular season 7-23 and 5-10 in the GNAC, but snuck into the playoffs with a tie-breaking win against Mitchell back on October 14th. 
  • Junior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) led the offense with 231 kills on a .116 kill percentage. Junior Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) was next with 204 kills on a .156 percentage, while first year Delaney Skourtis (Tilton, N.H.) rounded out the top three with 200 kills. 
  • Junior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) led the passing effort with 640 assists to go with 50 kills, and 42 aces. 
  • Defensively junior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) controlled the back line with 385 digs, while senior Abby Williams (Brentwood, N.H.) led the blocking effort with 13 solo and 18 assisted blocks. 
  • This is the first collegiate playoff game for head coach David Starin who is in his second year at Colby-Sawyer.
Emmanuel Headlines:
  • The Saints ended the year 16-10 to clinch the seventh seed in the GNAC tournament. 
  • Sophomore Isabella Marquez led the offense with 272 kills on a .206 kill percentage. Classmate Wiktoria Galazyn was next with 173 kills followed in third by first year Kason Huynh with 137. 
  • Senior Brigid Moriarty is the leading setter with 356 assists to go with 108 digs.
  • Defensively junior Paula Tanguilig had 365 digs, while senior middle blocker Seana Phillips had 71 total blocks for the Saints.
All-Time vs Emmanuel 
  • The Chargers hold a 8-8 overall record all-time against Emmanuel with their last win coming on October 1st of 2022.
