NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team picked up their biggest win of the season on Friday night defeating Norwich by a 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-11) final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers jumped ahead by a 6-4 margin after kills by first year Delaney Skourtis (Tilton, N.H.) and senior Abby Williams (Brentwood, N.H.). Colby-Sawyer stayed on the attack with a 8-2 run with two kills a piece by junior Brooke Patnode (Weare, N.H.) and junior Ally Majenski (Marshfield, Mass.) to jump the lead to 14-7. The Cadets battled back with six-straight points to cut the lead to 19-16, but a first year Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) and another kill by Majenski closed out the first set for the visitors 25-20.
- First year Haley Hathorn (Hillsboro, N.H.) kicked off the second set with a kill, but the home team would jump ahead by a 7-4 advantage. A service ace by junior Audra Fontes (Fresno, Calif.) and kill by Majenski got the Chargers within 8-7, but a 7-4 counter by Norwich kept the Cadets in front. Kill by Skourtis, Patnode, Williams and junior Katie Mollberg (Naples, Fla.) were not enough in the end falling by a 25-19 final.
- Colby-Sawyer jumped back in front in the third set leading 5-1 on three kills by Mollberg. The lead continued to grow on two more Mollberg strikes and another by Majenski to grow the advantage to 14-9. Holding the 17-14 lead the visitors pulled out the third set with a 8-0 run sparked by two aces from Fontes.
- The Cadets stormed ahead by a 7-1 mark in the fourth set. A 7-0 counter later in the set gave the Chargers the lead on two kills by Majenski and two service aces by first year Ari Cuevas (Somersworth, N.H.). The teams were knotted at 14-14, but Norwich closed it out on a 11-6 run to win the fourth set.
- In the deciding set the Chargers jumped to a 7-1 lead behind kills by Mollberg, Majenski and Skourtis. Two more by Skourtis and another by the setter Patnode kept the lead at 12-6. Patnode and Majenski closed things out with back-to-back kills to end the match with a 15-11 win.

The defense tonight was amazing and the passes were up consistently so I was able to deliver to my hitters who were finding spots and putting the ball down. Inside The Numbers:
- Fontes tied the program record for digs in a five set match with 39. Audra matches Amy Tarte who also had 39 on October 15th, 2005 against MIT.
- Mollberg led the offense with 13 kills to go with eight digs. Majenski followed with 12 kills on a .171 kill percentage.
- Patnode filled the stat sheet with 35 assists, 11 digs and a career-best seven kills.
