GNAC Playoffs Preview: #4 Chargers Hosts First Playoff Since 2017 Against #5 Regis

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team is gearing up for a special Saturday as they will host the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs for the first time in program history. The #4 seeded Chargers will host #5 Regis on Saturday October 28th with a 12:00 PM start.

No. 5 REGIS COLLEGE PRIDE (9-4-4, 8-3-4 GNAC)
 
Game Headlines:
This is the first Charger home playoff game since October 31, 2017 when Colby-Sawyer fell in the NAC Semifinals to Husson University by a 1-0 final in double-overtime. Colby-Sawyer and Regis tied in the only meeting of the season by a 0-0 final on October 3rd in New London. 
 
Colby-Sawyer Headlines:
  • The Chargers ended the regular season 11-6-3, which was their best regular season record since 2017 when Colby-Sawyer went 12-3-1. This season the main story is the offense which has produced 117 points on 41 goals and 35 assists good for 3rd best in the conference. The defense has also been solid only allowing 1.3 goals per game. 
  • Junior Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) led the way with a program record 19 goals to go with five more assists, senior Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) followed with 24 points on 10 assists and seven goals. Senior Kara Keiper (Peterborough, N.H.) also had a big year with eight goals and four assists. 
  • On the defensive side first year center back Riley Paul (Londonderry, Vt.) and sophomore holding midfielder Lauren Ardolino (Milford, Conn.) led the defensive effort only allowing 26 goals in the 20 games. Graduate student Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) has been steady in the net for the Chargers with a 8-4-2 record with 45 saves for a 80.4% save percentage. 
Regis Headlines:
  • Regis finished the regular season with 9-4-4 record to clinch the #5 seed. 
  • First years Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) and Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) led the scoring for the Pride with eight goals and four assist a piece.
  •  Senior Cristina Nazario (Isla Verde, Puerto Rico), sophomore Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) and sophomore Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) all saw time in the net for the Pride. Nazario had a 3-0 record with 12 saves, Mazo held a 2-2-1 record with 28 saves and Van Cott had a 3-1-2 record with 18 saves.   
All-Time vs Regis 
  • The Chargers hold a 20-8-1 overall record against Regis, but have not beat Regis since October 23, 2010.
