Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer were triumphant on Sunday defeating Vermont State Castleton by a 3-2 final.
Rapid Recap:
- The Chargers started the game with a score almost immediately on Sunday with first year Mateo Siguenza (Guayaquil, Ecuador) finding the back of the net 90 seconds into the match. The team would continue to maintain pressure on the home team defense peppering shots at the goalkeeper. The Chargers would find their second score from first year David Herrera (Kississmee, Fla.) who snuck a shot by the keeper at the 22nd minute. The two teams would continue to battle in the midfield until the end of the half.
- The second half allowed for a momentum shift for the home team as they struck first with a cross from Ayoob Musanovic to find the foot of Charlie Cisneros in the 53rd minute to make the score 1-2. The Spartans would continue to maintain possession until they were able to even the score at 2 with a score from Adolphe Alfani. The teams would continue to battle back and forth with the Charger earning a corner kick. First year Kaden Lewis (Lunenberg, Mass.) would give the Chargers the winning score in the 77th minute.
Inside the Numbers:
- Herrara would notch his first collegiate goal, while Siguenza notched his third and Lewis picked up his fifth.
- First year Alex Gomez-Agudelo (Mesquite, Texas) played the full 90 for the Chargers recording seven saves and allowing two goals.
- The Chargers were out shot by the Spartans by a 22-15 margin and a 9-5 on target differential.
