Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team fell Tuesaday evening to Saint Joseph College of Maine by a score of 6-2, in third match in four days.
Rapid Recap:
- The Monks scored early and often Tuesday evening finding the back of the net within the first three minutes off of a cross from Rion Dos Santos to Cole Bishop. In immediate moments following the Monks would find themselves up 2-0 as Dos Santos would score his own goal. The Monks would continue to dominate the first half scoring their third goal off a corner kick in the 7th minute. The Chargers would continue to battle but a free kick in the 15th minute would lead to the fourth Monks goal from Dos Santos. The Chargers would see their first opportunity to score from sophomore Kadin Braley (Pittsfield, Maine) as he would fire a shot wide to the left. Eventually the Chargers would break the scoring slump as first year Cullen Visscher (Katy, Texas) found the back of the net off of a free kick bringing the score to 4-1 in the 26th minute. The Chargers would look for the momentum shift but a free kick from the Monks would lead to their fifth score of the half. A string of substitutions from the Chargers would lead to a shift allowing for Junior Ryan Wilson (Mattapoisett, Mass.) to get a shot on goal. The half would end with another shot on goal from Wilson.
- The Chargers would start the second half with a quick shot and score from Visscher, sneaking the ball under the keeper. The Monks would take control after peppering first year keeper Alex Gomez-Agudelo (Mesquite, Texas) with shots which would be turned away. The Monks would break through with their sixth score in the 75th minute. The Monks would continue to fire shots to be turned away until the end of the match.
Inside the Numbers:
- Gomez-Agudelo made 17 stops in net for the Chargers while allowing six goals, this was the first Charger keeper registered 17 saves since October 2018.
- Visscher registered the only two scores of the contest for the Chargers. .
- CSC was outshot by the Monks by a 40-9 margin with a 24-6 on target differential.
