WINTHROP, Mass.
– On Tuesday, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released its annual Commissioner's Cups for the first time since 2018-19 with the Chargers setting their best finish in school history.
The Colby-Sawyer men finished tied for third place at 60% (24/40), while the women finished fourth at 58% (29/50). This marks the second time the Chargers have been in the GNAC Commissioner's Cups where the women finished fourth and men finished fifth in 2018-19.
The GNAC Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the member institution achieving the highest level of athletic success throughout the academic year. It is based upon a point system and standings are determined by percentages in order to reflect the number of GNAC sports that each member sponsors.
Schools receive five points for winning a GNAC Championship, four points for advancing to a conference title game, three points for competing in a GNAC Semifinal, two points for qualifying for a GNAC Tournament, or one point for sponsoring the sport.
The Chargers got five points from the men's and women's cross country teams, outdoor track & field team and women's tennis teams for winning the GNAC Championships, while the men's tennis, indoor men's track & field, women's outdoor track & field and field hockey teams each provided four points for being GNAC runner ups.
