Chargers Season Ends Falling to Johnson & Wales University in GNAC Quarterfinals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team's season was ended on Saturday losing to the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats by a 15-4 final in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals. 

Rapid Recap: 
  • The Wildcats took control early scoring three-straight to open things up. Junior Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.) got the Chargers on the board receiving a pass from junior Sydney Stevens (Laconia, N.H.). 
  • The second quarter saw more of the same as the lead grew to 10-1 as the Wildcats scored five unanswered goals in the period. 
  • The third quarter opened with Marquis finishing one past the Wildcats, but back-to-back scores had the lead at 10 goals. Marquis finished the hat-trick to cut the lead to 12-3 as the third quarter closed. 
  • First year Sophia Kuhlthau (Cheshire, Conn.) picked up the lone Charger goal as the Wildcats closed out the 15-4 win. 
Inside the Box Score:
  • Marquis picked up hat-trick number eight on the season registering three goals, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Kuhlthau and Stevens added the remaining points.  
  • First year Emma Webster (Campton, N.H.) had a breakout game with a career-high six caused turnovers and six ground balls. 
  • First year AJ Paton (Exeter, N.H.) picked up the loss with three save effort. 
  • The Chargers season ends with a 11-6 overall record, which is tied for second-best in program history in wins only trailing the 2016 team (12-7) and is tied with the 2006 team (11-5).
