Chargers End Season with Pair of Competitive Losses at Dean College

FRANKLIN, Mass.  – The Chargers ended the baseball season on Saturday dropping a pair of contests to the Dean College Bulldogs.

Game One: (L, 10-6)
  • The Bulldogs jumped ahead early scoring five runs in the first two innings. The lead continued to grow in the fifth as three more runs crossed home as the Bulldogs led 8-0.
  • The Chargers got on the board in the top of the sixth as first year Jesse MacGlashing tripled to right field to score first year Brady Holmes (West Yarmouth, Mass.). The Bulldogs responded with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to now lead 10-1.
  • The Chargers put up a late rally scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs held on for the game one win. Junior Ian Turpel (Cohasset, Mass.) had a three RBI double, while MacGlashing singled in another run and senior Jackson Parmentier (Higganum, Conn.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the final RBI.
  • Sophomore Zach Rogers (Mashpee, Mass.) picked up the loss throwing five innings allowing eight runs (seven earned), while striking out six and walking one. First year Matt Bennett (Kingston, Mass.) followed with two-thirds of an inning allowing two runs with a strikeout and three free passes. Junior Max Lewis (Durham, N.H.) got the final out of the day for Colby-Sawyer.
Game Two: (L, 4-3 (9 innings) )
  • In game two the Chargers jumped ahead early as junior Cooper O'Brien (Vergennes, Vt.) singled home a pair in the first inning to give Colby-Sawyer a 2-0 lead. The Chargers tacked on another in the first as an error resulted in junior Jake Choiniere (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) coming around to score.
  • Dean responded in the first with a single run, before scoring a pair more in the sixth inning to tie the game up at 3-3. The game would need extra innings and the Bulldogs would get a walk-off single to end it in the ninth.
  • First year Jack Mullen (Norfolk, Mass.) got the start throwing four innings giving up one run on two hits to go with two strikeouts and seven walks. First year Kenneth Spratt (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed with two innings allowing a pair of runs while striking out one.
