Track & Field Competes in Tuft's Snowflake Classic Over the Weekend

MEDFORD, MASS. – The Colby-Sawyer track and field teams travelled to Tuft's University to compete in the "Tuft's Snowflake Classic" in which the men's team finished in 12th place of 17 teams with a total 22 points. On the women's side, the Chargers finished above Plymouth State with three points, ranking 17th of 18. 
 
RECAP (M): 
  • Earning podium in his event was first-year Chase Adams (Brookline, N.H.). The indoor 60-meter hurdles school record holder finished in second place during the 400-meter hurdles event with a finishing time of 58.77 which was also a new personal best for the rookie. Following closely behind in fourth place was senior Jacob Nichol (Concord, N.H.) with a time of 1:01.85. 
  • Two Chargers from the men's team collected new personal records in the 100-meter dash with two others competing in the event for their first time. First-year Jordan Kofos (Kittery, Maine) placed 14th with a time of 11.72 while junior Dean Miller crossed the line in 21st place with a time of 11.88. 
  • First-year Hayden Goyette (Epsom, N.H.) earned a new personal best in the 800-meter race, cutting his previously set time a week before by almost three seconds with a new time of 2:07.57. 
  • Running almost five seconds faster than his previous best was first-year Daniel Magill (Billerica, Mass.) with a new time of 4:54.28 in the 1500-meter event. 
  • In the throwing events, senior captain Alex Kusnarowis (Concord, N.H.) placed 15th in the discus throw with a new personal distance record of 34.65 meters. First-year Alexander Tirado (Tyngsborough, Mass.) pr'd in the shot-put event with a throw of 10.88 meters. Also collecting a new personal record in the shot-put event was senior Jacob Walker (Guilford, Conn.) with a 9.59-meter throw. 
 
 
RECAP (W):
  • Sophomore Ashley Keleher (Mashpee, Mass.) had an amazing outing during this competitive meet, earning two personal records. In the 100, the rookie defeated her previous set time a week before by .20 seconds with a new time of 13.11 and placed 11th. During the 200, the indoor record holder ran over a second faster with a finishing time of 26.89. 
  • Also defeating her previous time, the week before in the 200 event was first-year Courtney Brewster (Castleton, VT.) with a new time of 31.39. 
  • Sophomore Morgan Fleischer (Hubbardston, Mass.) collected a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a new time of 19.03. 
  • Earning a new pr in the long jump was junior Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine), jumping for 3.78 meters. 
  • During the throwing events, sophomore Carly Ayotte (Swanzey, N.H.) finished with a shot put distance of 7.33 meters which was .12 of a meter further than her previous distance set the week before at the Bears Invitational. 
  • Sophomore Anna Bieszczad competed in the javelin throw event, earning eight place with a throwing distance of 25.32 meters – almost 3 meters further than previous throw.

Both the Colby-Sawyer men's track and field team as well as the women will travel to North Hampton, Massachusetts to compete in a meet hosted by Smith College on Saturday, April 9th
