SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Colby-Sawyer track and field teams were originally scheduled to compete in the Carla Coffey Invitational hosted by Smith College however, due to some construction at their track causing the cancellation of certain events, the Chargers made a late decision to enter the non-scoring Springfield College Classic instead.
Rapid Recap (W):
The women's team competed in this non-scoring meet with zero Chargers earning podium. However, 11 members of the women's team collected personal records in their respected events.
Sophomore
Ashley Keleher (Mashpee, Mass.) continued to climb the ladder, receiving a final time of 13.02 in the 100-meter dash, for a new personal record.
Following Keleher was juniors and field hockey players
Calie Sorenson (Sandwich, Mass.) and
Bella Silva (Danvers, Mass.) with new personal records of their own in the 200-meter race, with Silva finishing in 29.15 and Sorenson following behind at 30.13. First-year and also a dual sport athlete,
Courtney Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) pr'd in the 200-meter race with a new record time of 30.22. Soccer star
Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) showed her speed earning a personal record in the same event as Brewster and Sorenson.
First-year
Tessa Millette (Barrington, N.H.) was the highest placing Charger in the 1500 meter run, finishing in twelfth place with a final time of 5:22.51. First-year
Quinn Aldrich (New Ipswich, N.H.) followed behind, absolutely crushing her previous record in the 1500 with a new time of 5:46.23.
During the 100-meter hurdles, field hockey keeper
Lauren Wilkinson (Lynn, Mass.) finished with a new personal record time of 22.76. Junior and three-point shooter in the basketball season
Emily Parent came out with a new personal record in the long jump event with a distance of 3.95m.
Moving into the throwing events, sophomore
Carly Ayotte (Swanzey, N.H.) placed 16
th with a new record throw of 7.42 in the shot put. Sophomore
Faith Mazzapica (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished in seventh place during the discus throw, in which she earned her first personal record of the day with a final 28.67 meters. Her second personal record came in the hammer throw where she placed eighth with 35.95m.
Finishing off the women's side was senior
Anna Bieszczad (Grantham, N.H.) in the javelin throw event. The veteran earned a new personal record of 26.10 meters.
Rapid Recap (M):
Two Chargers from the men's side earned podiums in their events while two others barely missed third place, earning them the number four spot with junior
Omar Boone qualifying for the New England Regionals in the high jump event, with a jump of 1.90 meters.
First-year
Chase Adams placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in which he also collected a new personal record time of 58.71. The rookie also pr'd in the 110 hurdles in which he finished fifth in with a time of 16.54.
First-year
Haven Deschenes (Peterborough, N.H.) finished in third place during his first 3000-meter steeplechase appearance. Deschenes completed the event in 11:01.09. Following closely behind in fourth place was sophomore
Jordan Piechowski (Windham, N.H.) crossing the line in 11:20.42.
Adding to the personal records list was sophomore
Joseph Branchaud in the 100-meter dash, first-year
Hayden Goyette (Epsom, N.H.) in the 1500, and seniors
Alex Kusnarowis (Concord, N.H.) and
Jacob Walker (Guilford, Conn.) in the discus throw.

The Colby-Sawyer track and field teams head to New London, CT. to compete in the Connecticut College Elite Distance Invite on Friday, April 15
th before heading to Manchester, N.H. for a meet hosted by Southern New Hampshire University the following day.
