Chargers Can't Overcome Slow Start in 76-54 Loss to Cadets

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Chargers lost their third-straight home game on Thursday falling to Norwich University by a 76-54 final.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Cadets started off hot scoring on their first five possessions to take an early 11-4 advantage. The lead would jump to double-digits at the 13:43 mark of the first half before junior Scott Lampron (Concord, N.H.) drilled a stare down three-pointer to kickstart a quick 7-0 run to get the game to 17-13 in favor of the visitors.
  • Norwich continued the offensive success, holding a nine point lead before another 6-0 run headlined by a first year Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) put-back layup got the game back in striking distance at 26-23. The Cadets surged back in control finishing the half with a last second triple by Jalen Olivero.
  • The Cadets jumped the lead to 47-26 early in the second, starting the half on a 12-0 run in the opening 5:07 of game action.
  • A 5-0 run started by a junior Conor Kelly (Charlestown, Mass.) layup, followed by a junior Terrence Harvey Jr. (Atlanta, Ga.) three got the game back to  48-33 and it looked like the Chargers were back on track.
  • The teams would continue to exchange baskets with the visitors slowly jumping the game back in their favor pushing the game back to a 20 point lead with 3:31 left and holding on for the big Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win.
Notes & Notables:
  • The big story from this game was the Chargers cold shooting with the home team only knocking down 16.7% (4-24) from outside the arc, while the Cadets shot at a 42.9% (9-21) clip.
  • Lampron finished the game as the high-scorer for Colby-Sawyer netting 13 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3-PT) to go with three rebounds. Senior Deondre Smith (Garland, Texas) was the only other Charger in double-digits pouring in 10 points (5-8 FG) with a pair of rebounds.
