Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Chargers Fall on Senior Day to Emmanuel College

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer came up short in their final contest of the season on Tuesday, falling to Emmanuel College by a 5-1 final. Prior to the game seniors Kevin Mollison (Gorham, Maine), Finn Husband (Elk Rapids, Mich.), Fabrice Francois (Port-au-Prince, Haiti), Nick Mason (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Callum Buchanan (Eastbourne, England) and Aiden Curran (Fleckney, England) were each honored before the game for their contributions to the men's soccer program.

Rapid Recap:
  • The Saints jumped ahead early as Ryan McKinney sent a perfect through ball to Joey Soucy who tapped home the score in the third minute. Emmanuel College fired off a pair of shots to try and double the score in the next five minutes but first year Yener Bartolon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) made two diving stops to keep the deficit at 1-0. The Chargers had their first scoring opportunity in the 15th minute as Francois fired a shot that was turned away by Vincent Conelli. In the 23rd minute the lead finally doubled as Soucy scored his second goal of the day. Emmanuel was not done scoring less than a minute later to extend the first half lead to 3-0 heading into the break.
  • In the 51st minute the Chargers responded as Buchanan placed a perfect setup to the head of Husband to find the back of the net for the home team. Colby-Sawyer couldn't follow up with the momentum, as Emmanuel would take the next couple of shots. In the 70th minute Alec Erskine added some insurance beating Bartolon to extend the Saint lead to 4-1. Buchanan tried to get another shot off, but it was blocked en route to another Emmanuel score by Gabriel Eduarte to put the game out of reach.
Stats & Figures:
  • Bartolon tied a career-high with 11 saves in net as he concludes his first season for Colby-Sawyer with a 5-9-3 record.
  • Husband netted his fourth goal of the season, while Buchanan picked up his fifth assist.
  • The Chargers were out shot by a 19-12 margin with a 16-5 shots on goal differential.
