SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Chargers dropped a contest to Springfield College on Tuesday afternoon in a tune-up match before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Playoffs by a 8-1 final.

Rapid Recap:

• The Chargers trailed 2-0 early in doubles before sophomore Elise Hogan (Duxbury, Mass.) and sophomore Amelia Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.) cut into the deficit with a 8-4 #3 doubles victory.
• In singles action all six matches went into three sets. Reigning GNAC player of the week junior Alyssa Owens (Grain Valley, Mo.) put a tough battle on Gabby Heaney-Secord falling by a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 final in number one singles. Sophomore Isabella Gutierrez Avendaño (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) also had an impressive showing in number three singles dropping the contest to Veronica Fulgieri by a 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 final.

Up Next:
The Chargers will host the GNAC Semi-Finals on October 15th with a 2:00 PM start time. Colby-Sawyer's opponent is still to be determined.
