Chargers Finish in 8th at Purple Valley Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Colby-Sawyer women's cross country team raced at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday placing in 8th out of 12 teams with 209 points.

Rapid Recap:

  • Leading the way for the Chargers was senior Shannon O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.). O'Connell crossed the line at 24:26.3 during this 6k race finishing in 22nd place. 
  • Sophomore Samantha Carus (Brownfield, Maine) followed closely behind at 24:45.4 good for 27th place. Next for Colby-Sawyer was sophomore Tessa Millette (Barrington, N.H.) who finished in 55th with a time of 25:50.3. 
  • First year Adriana Nadeau (Londonderry, N.H.) finished 75th overall and fourth in the Chargers spread with a time of 26:45.1. Rounding out the top five was sophomore Heather Hanson (Marston Mills, Mass.) who crossed the line 85th overall with a time of 27:35.1.
Runner Spotlight:

"Today was a competitive and tough race", said senior Shannon O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.). "I'm really proud of our teams' effort. A majority of the teams that beat us are nationally ranked, so it was great to see how we compare to them. Also shout out to coach Ryan O'Connell for coaching on his birthday!"

Up Next:
The Chargers will take a week off from competition before heading to Connecticut College on October 15th in their final regular season meet before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship.
