Women's Tennis Splits Weekend Doubleheader

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis split its two matches today against Emerson College and Lesley University.

Rapid Recap (Emerson)
  • In doubles play, sophomore Lindsay Macdonald (South Yarmouth, Mass.) and freshman Elise Hogan (Duxbury, Mass.) was the only pairing to win for the Chargers. The duo won their match 8-6.
  • In singles, freshman Grace Carpenter (Milford, N.H.) won her match (6-1, 6-3) over Emerson's number three player. Hogan stayed undefeated on the afternoon after winning her singles match in three set, (4-6, 6-4, 6-2). Finally, freshman Amelia Campanella (Chepachet, R.I.) won her match (6-3, 6-0) to give the Chargers their fourth point of the contest.

  • During doubles, the Chargers won all three matches. Playing partners freshman Lily Tria (Westerly, R.I.) and freshman Sarah Smith (Rindge, N.H.) won their first match together 8-0. The pairings of Carpenter and Macdonald and senior Amira Eid (Pelham, N.H.) and Campanella both won their matches 8-3 and 8-1.
  • The Chargers also swept all six matches in singles. Macdonald won her match (6-0, 6-1). Carpenter and freshman Olivia Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.)  both won their matches in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Campanella and senior Margret Fox (New Orleans, La.) both won their matches with the same score (6-1, 6-0). Finally, freshman Mei Genest (Keene, N.H.) won her first match of the year (6-1, 6-0).
Up Next
The Chargers head to Simmons University to take on the Sharks. The match is set for Wednesday, Sept. 15.
