NEW LONDON, N.H. — The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team battled till the end, but lost its season opener 2-1 against Mount Holyoke College on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Rocio Perez-Salas found the back of the net in the 87th minute to give the Lyons the lead.

The Summary
- Mount Holyoke struck first in the sixth minute of the game. Freshman Hannah Keochakian found a seam and put it past the Charger goalkeeper. Two minutes later, sophomore Sam Bishop (Windham, N.H.) found the back of the net for her first goal of the young season to tie the game . After the Bishop's goal, Colby-Sawyer had five additional shots in the first half, but could not convert on any other them.
- Freshman Bridget O' Connell (Peabody, Mass.) started off the second half launching a shot that missed just high. The second half was a back and forth battle between both teams. In the 76th minute junior Hannah Marquis (Ware, N.H.) struck a ball off her foot that hit the post, this would be the Chargers best opportunity of the half. In the 87th minute Perez-Salas snuck through the Charger defense and scored to give the Lyons a lead that they would not relinquish.

- O'Connell had the most shots on goal of the game for the Chargers with three.
