NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Juniors
Emily Parent (Oakland, Maine) and
Lia Raynowska (Brentwood, N.H.) each registered a career-high 18 points, but the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell to Norwich University by a 73-57 final in the first game of the Ed Hockenbury Classic.
RAPID RECAP:
- Parent opened the game hitting her first triple of the night to give the Chargers an early advantage. The Cadets countered with eight straight points to take a 8-3 lead. Colby-Sawyer ended the quarter strong trimming the score to 18-14 heading into the second.
- The second frame started with back and forth play culminating with a 10-2 Norwich run to extend the lead to 41-31 heading into the break.
- The Cadets extended the lead in the third quarter jumping the game to as many as 16 before ending it at a 55-41 margin.
- In the fourth the home team kept control jumping the lead to the 20's before the Chargers ended the game on back-to-back triples by Raynowska.
STATS & FIGURES:
- Parent netted six three-pointers to get to her 18 points (6-13 FG, 6-12 3-PT) to go along with four boards.
- Raynowska filled the stat sheet with 18 points (6-19 FG, 4-10 3-PT, 2-4 FT), three assists, three rebounds, two steals and a pair of rejections.
- First year Marissa Holt (Alfred, Maine) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points (3-11 FG, 0-6 3-PT, 5-6 FT) and three helpers.
- Haley Brewster scored 30 points to lead the Cadets to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory.
