NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team honored their three seniors in today's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match hosted by the Chargers and including the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine and the Blazers of Elms College.

Rapid Recap Saint Joesph's College of Maine:
  • Trailing 12-9 in the first set, a kill by senior Anna Allen (Los Angeles, CA) sparked a three-point run for Colby-Sawyer to knot the score at 12. The Monks quickly took back the lead in which they maintained for the remainder of the set taking it off the Chargers 25-19.
  • Senior Sam Mohammed (Killingworth, Conn.) led the Charger offense in the second set opening it up with an overpowering kill followed by a bad set from the Monks and another Mohamed kill to receive a 3-0 advantage. With the score tied at seven, the Monks saw an opportunity and ran with it, taking the second set 25-15.
  • Needing a set win to stay afloat, the Chargers offense produced 11 total kills to take the third set 25-21 off the Monks. First year Ally Majenski (Marshfield, MA) and junior Ameesah Cotten (Newburgh, N.Y.) evenly shared six out of the 11 kills with others coming from Mohammed, junior Mia Harmon (Concord, N.H.), and first year Makaila Blinne (Palm Bay, FL).
  • The closest set of the match came in the fourth, in favor of the Monks. Both teams manufactured 11 kills each, however the Chargers eight errors would ultimately doom the Chargers as they dropped set four 26-24 to drop the overall match 1-3 to the Monks.
Rapid Recap Elms College:
  • The Chargers trailed 15-11 before using a 10-3 run to take advantage and secure the set win. Junior Olivia Werner (Williston, Vt.) led the offense with three kills.
  • Colby-Sawyer had the momentum leading 20-19 before the Blazers scored six-straight to secure the set win.
  • In the third set Elms College went back-and-forth with the Chargers with the visitors eventually taking the set by a 25-20 final.
  • The Blazers controlled the fourth set taking an early lead by a 11-3 margin before winning 25-13.
