FRANKLIN, Mass. – Sophomore
Kara Keiper netted her first collegiate goal Saturday, but it was not enough as the Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Bulldogs of Dean College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
All the scoring on the afternoon came in the first 10 minutes of the contest, with Dean striking first just 2:27 into the contest. Elizabeth McGowan netted an unassisted goal for the host Bulldogs.
The Chargers and Keiper responded exactly two minutes later, knotting the score at 1-1.
Dean poked home the game-winner in the eighth minute when Jasmine Sztyler-Magee found the back of the net, giving Dean a 2-1 edge.
The Chargers generated a flurry of offense, especially in the game's second half, lobbing 13 shots, five on target, but all were turned away by keeper Haley Gaunt.
Colby-Sawyer ended the afternoon with 21 total shots, seven on net, compared to just 12 from Dean, with only the two shots recorded on target being the Bulldogs goals.
Sam Bishop led the Chargers with four total shots, while
Brenna Humphrey added three coming in off the bench.
Colby-Sawyer (2-4-0, 2-2-0 GNAC) returns home for another GNAC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 6 against Norwich University. Game time at Kelsey Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
