NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 25, 2020 – The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming teams celebrated senior day at the Knight Natatorium on Saturday with a double-dual meet against Gordon and Maine Maritime.
RESULTS
The Colby-Sawyer women swept the meet by defeating Gordon 151-57 and Maine Maritime 154-52. On the men's side, Colby-Sawyer defeated Gordon by a score of 66-10, but fell to Maine Maritime by a 104-44 score.
Prior to the meet, seniors
Tim Gablosky (Fremont, N.H.) and
Cassie Lewis (South Berwick Maine) were honored for their years of dedication to the Colby-Sawyer swim program.
The Chargers opened the meet by taking the top two spots in the women's 200-medley relay.
Leilani Marlow (Kapolei, Hawaii),
Jinnae Jang (Fall River, Mass.),
Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.) and
Nina Boudreau (Hallowell, Maine) won with a time of 1:58.79 and was followed by the team of
Zoe Daudier (Milford, N.H.),
Rebecca Lee (Redding, Conn.),
Mary Steward (Saco, Maine) and
Alyssa Brown (Douglas, Mass.) at 2:06.67.
In the women's 200-freestyle, Jang and Daudier finished first and second with times of 2:06.63 and 2:14.84, respectively.
Junior
Garrett Scahill (Manville, R.I.) and first-year
Max Isley (Valparaiso, Ind.) got the men off to a good start in the 200-freestyle. Scahill took top honors with a season best time of 1:55.21 and was followed by Isley in 1:58.96.
The Chargers piled up the points in the 50-freestyle by capturing the top-four spots.
Rebecca Lee came away with the victory in a season best time of 27.33.
Marlow (2:30.87) won the 200 IM, while
Kelsey Brown posted a season best time to win the 100-butterfly in 1:01.69.
Scahill gave the Chargers a sweep in the 100-butterfly by winning the men's heat in the only sub-minute swim of 58.59.
Lee also posted the lone sub-minute result to win the 100-freestlye with a season best time of 59 seconds flat. Boudreau and
Alyssa Brown were second and third in the race.
Jang and Daudier were the top-two finishers in the 100-backstroke as Jang had the winning time of 1:05.33.
Scahill added to his win total for the day with a victory in the 100-backstroke at 59.40.
Tim Gablosky placed third in the race with a season best time of 1:07.91.
Cassie Lewis finished second to a Gordon swimmer in the 500-freestyle with a time of 6:36.81, but earned valuable points for the Chargers by placing ahead of three Maine Maritime competitors.
Kelsey Brown won the final women's individual event of the afternoon. She touched the wall first in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:16.41.
The day ended the way it began as Colby-Sawyer claimed the top-two spots of the 400-freestyle relay. Marlow, Steward, Lee and Boudreau won in a time of 4:02.48, while
Alyssa Brown,
Lauren Berry (Dracut, Mass.),
Quinn Manion (Westminster, Mass.) and Daudier combined for 4:26.32 to place second.
The Chargers will compete at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship next weekend at the Wellesley Sports Center.
