BIDDEFORD, Maine - January 18, 2020 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swim team was edged by the University of New England, 131-126, on Saturday afternoon.
RESULTS
The women began competition by taking second in the 200-yard medley relay. The group of junior
Jinnae Jang, sophomore
Kelsey Brown, first-year
Rebecca Lee and first-year
Nina Boudreau posted a time of 2:01.01.
Jang's first individual victory of the day came with a win in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.56. The junior swam to another first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best 1:14.39. She concluded her day by taking the top spot of the 200-yard individual medley with a second season-best time of 2:21.23.
Lee produced a season-best time of 5:37.48 on her way to winning the 500-yard freestyle.
Junior
Zoe Daudier began individual competition with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle by dropping an impressive nine seconds for a season-best of 12:12.47.
Kelsey Brown claimed her first victory of the day in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best mark of 2:08.16. Brown followed up with another victory in the 50-yard butterfly, also a season-best 27.74.
First-year
Leilani Marlow swept the backstroke events, by swimming a 30.39 in the 50 and a 1:06.32 in the 100.
The final race of the day was the deciding factor of the meet, and the group of Daudier, Boudreau, Marlow, and Lee were narrowly defeated, but still posted a second-place finish of 1:50.28 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Chargers will host a double-dual meet next weekend against Gordon and Maine Maritime to wrap up the regular season.
