Field Hockey Drops 2-1 Game to Gordon

NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 11, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team drop a non-conference game to Gordon, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

Gordon improves to 2-3 and will play at Roger Williams on Sept. 21. Colby-Sawyer drops to 1-3 and will open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Rivier on Saturday at 1 p.m.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Fighting Scots struck 19 seconds into the second quarter with an unassisted goal by junior Natalie Adamez (Westminster, Md.).

Two minutes into the third quarter, Gordon doubled its lead when sophomore Cara Goudie (Wenham, Mass.) deposited her team leading fifth goal of the season off a feed from senior Sabrina Jandreau (Winslow, Maine).

Colby-Sawyer was able to get a goal back with less than two minutes to play in regulation, but would ultimately fall 2-1. Junior Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.) notched her team leading third goal of the season. First-year Aoife Daly (Harwich, Mass.) set up the play with her first collegiate point.

Senior Julia Altman (Hopkinton, Mass.) worked the first two quarters in the cage for Gordon and did not face a shot on target. Sophomore Katelyn Pelletier (Attleboro, Mass.) played the final two quarters and finished with one goal allowed and a save. Colby-Sawyer goalie Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) had six saves in the loss.

Gordon had a slim 6-5 edge in penalty corners and outshot the Chargers 11-5.
