Women's Volleyball Wins Both Saturday Matches

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - August 31, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team won both of its matches on Saturday at the Best Western Plus-Ground Round Cardinal Classic hosted by Plattsburgh State. 

The Chargers began the day with a 3-1 victory over tournament host Plattsburgh State. Colby-Sawyer won 19-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18. The team then swept Sage 3-0 by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-19. 

COLBY-SAWYER 3, PLATTSBURGH STATE 1

Naarah Cox paced the Colby-Sawyer offensive attack with 15 kills, while Rebecca Strauble added 13 kills. Straubel added a team best 18 digs, while Cox had two solo blocks. 

Sam Mohammed also had double figure kills with 11 to go with 16 digs. Morgan Flynn also had 16 digs and four aces. Flynn was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Olivia Werner was efficient at the net hitting .714 to finish with six kills on seven attempts. Anna Allen turned in a match high 40  assists and added 12 digs. 

COLBY-SAWYER 3, SAGE 0

Rebecca Straubel once again paced the Chargers on the attack. She finished with a match best 10 kills and added nine digs. 

Naarah Cox finished with eight kills, a solo block and a block assist. She moved into eighth in all-time solo blocks with 74. 

Sam Mohammed registered seven kills and six digs, while Ava LaValle had three kills and two blocks.
