WENHAM, Mass. - August 30, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Gordon on Friday in a season opener for both teams.
Colby-Sawyer travels to Endicott on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match with the Gulls.
The Chargers' top doubles duo of
Yashu Yang and
Alexa Conlin combined for a convincing 8-1 victory, but Gordon earned 8-4 wins at the second and third spots.
Yang and Conlin also recorded singles wins to account for the team's three points.
Yang cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Anne Carsey at the top singles flight.
After dropping the first set in a tie break, Conlin was leading 3-2 in the second when her opponent retired.
Amira Eid played tough at the No. 3 spot, but fell 6-4, 6-3.
