NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 5, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team continued its spring schedule with a 7-2 victory over Endicott on Friday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 11-3. The Chargers will continue their road to the NCAA Tournament with a 12 p.m. match at Springfield on Sunday. Endicott, which reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) finals in the fall, drops to 12-3. The Gulls will be at Southern New Hampshire on Sunday with an 11 a.m. start.

The Chargers won two out of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Yashu Yang (Kunming City, China) and first-year Anna Kopituk (Morristown, Tenn.) defeated sophomore Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and first-year Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) at the top flight by an 8-1 score. The No. 3 tandem of junior Alexa Conlin (Westborough, Mass.) and senior Hilary Boucher (Presque Isle, Maine) earned an 8-4 victory over sophomore Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.) and first-year Cara McCormack (Worcester, Mass.). Endicott won at the No. 2 spot behind strong play from first-year Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) and sophomore Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.). They combined for an 8-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer senior duo Aislinn O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn.) and Maddy Gemerek (Ballston Spa, N.Y.).

Colby-Sawyer then won five of six singles matches to secure the 7-2 victory. Yang earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the top flight, while Gemerek, O'Connor, Conlin, and Boucher also added victories in straight-sets.

Hoover registered the lone Endicott singles point with a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (12-10) victory at the second flight.
