WENHAM, Mass. - March 29, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team fell to Gordon, 12-5, in a single 9-inning non-conference game Friday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Sunday with a doubleheader against Suffolk at the East Boston Memorial Park.
The Chargers got off to a great start with three runs in their first at-bat.
Charlie Danaher drove in a run with a single, while
Danny McCrystal later singled in a pair.
Gordon quickly responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Christian Hodge had a two-run double in the inning.
The Fighting Scots plated four more runs in the second to take an 8-3 lead.
Colby-Sawyer received an RBI groundout from
Jesse Galanti in the third, but Sam Schetelich got the run back, in the fourth, for Gordon with a sac fly.
Austin Butler drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth to pull the Chargers within 9-5.
Schetelich hit a solo homerun in the seventh and the Scots added two more in the eighth to secure the 12-5 victory.
Brendan Barrett went 3-for-4 to lead the Chargers. Danaher finished with two hits.
AJ Cavossa took the loss after 1.1 innings of work.
Kyle McShera threw 4.2 innings of relief and allowed just one run on one hit and struck out seven.
Each team finished with 10 hits.
