March 10, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches this weekend. The Chargers fell to Nichols 8-1 and Union 9-0.
The Chargers are 2-4 and will continue a tough stretch on March 20 with a match against Division II Saint Michael's. The match will be played at the Boss Tennis Center on the campus of Dartmouth University.
Against Nichols,
Julius Lowman won his No. 5 singles match to register the Chargers' lone point of the match. After dropping the first set 6-2, Lowman tied the match with a 6-3 win in the second set. Lowman and Aidan Stuart then played a close third set tie-breaker with Lowman outlasting Stuart 11-9 for the win.
A couple of other Chargers were involved in tight matches with the Bison.
Cam Lynch battled to a 7-6, 7-6 defeat at No. 3, while
Mike White fought hard at the second flight before falling 6-1, 7-6.
In the match at Union,
Erik Antonacci forced a third set at the sixth flight. After Jack Andre took the first set 6-2, Antonacci won the second by a 6-4 score. Andre was able to come away with the match after a 10-6 win in the third.
