BOSTON, Mass. - February 16, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell at Emmanuel, 77-50, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season finale for both teams.
Emmanuel improves to 20-5 overall and 11-1 in conference play. Colby-Sawyer finishes 14-11 overall and 6-6 in the GNAC. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday in Boston in the GNAC Quarterfinals.
The Saints were led by junior Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda's game-high 24 points and eight rebounds. Maddie McLaughlin finished with 17 points, while Kayla Weaver (West Haven, Conn.) added 12 points.
Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) led Colby-Sawyer with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Junior
Kristen Donaghey (Franklin, Mass.) added 13 points and seven rebounds, while
Joslin Wainwright (Plainfield, N.H.) contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
The home team took a 9-2 lead four minutes into the contest, which later increased to 21-11 at the end of the first quarter.
Emmanuel increased its advantage in the second quarter by holding the Chargers to a pair of field goals. The Saints took a 37-18 lead into halftime.
Colby-Sawyer opened the third with eight straight points, including back-to-back triples from Sugars, to close the gap to 37-26.
Emmanuel responded with a 15-5 run to extend the lead to 52-31 and carried a 55-38 lead into the final quarter.
The Saints outscored Colby-Sawyer 22-12 in the fourth to win the game 77-50.
