NORTHFIELD, Vt. – November 2, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's soccer team was defeated by Norwich, 1-0, in Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quarterfinal contest.
The lone goal of the match came from Norwich defender Elias Gabrielsson (Ostersund, Sweden) with 15:14 left in the second half. Gabrielsson headed home a ball that deflected off the cross bar off an initial header by senior midfielder Julio Arreola (Chula Vista, Calif.).
Norwich improves to 14-3-1 and advances to the semifinals to play the winner of No. 2 seed Saint Joseph's (Maine) and No. 7 seed Emmanuel College. Colby-Sawyer ends its season with a 6-10-3 record.
Freshman goalkeeper Robert Wagenseller (Poway, Calif.) stopped both shot attempts on goal to pick up his fifth shutout of the season for the Cadets. Colby-Sawyer senior keeper
