Coffey and Bean Score 20 in Win over Worcester State

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - November 16, 2019 - Seniors Dean Bean (Franklin, N.H.) and Patrick Coffey (Westford, Mass.) each scored 20 points to lead Colby-Sawyer to an 85-71 victory over Worcester State in the consolation game of the Williams Tip-Off Tournament.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-1 and will play at Norwich on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Worcester State falls to 1-2. 
 
Bean was 7-13 for 20 points and nine rebounds. He moved up to 16th on the all-time scoring list with 1286 points. Coffey was 7-12 and added seven boards. Freshman Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) contributed 16 points, six rebounds and five steals. Sophomore Terrence Harvey Jr. (Smyrna, Ga.) scored 11 points in 15 minutes and went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. 

Colby-Sawyer jumped out to a 16-3 lead, 9:23 into the game, highlighted by a Dana Bean three-point play and an Omar Boone dunk. The Chargers defense held the Lancers scoreless for the first 7:56, when Cal Howes converted an and-one to get Worcester State on the board.
 
The teams went into the locker room with the Chargers up 40-26. Freshman Jake Lorman (Rutland, Vt.) banked in a half-court shot as time expired to extend the lead to 14. Lorman has made two buzzer-beating threes in three games. 
 
A Tyler Dion trey cut the lead to eight with 16:15 to go, but the Lancers would never get any closer. A Zack Caraballo (Salem, N.H.) steal and subsequent Bean dunk upped the Chargers lead to 19 with 11:13 to play, and they maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
 
Both teams stepped up their offense in the second half, with the Chargers shooting 16-31 (51.6%), while the Lancers connected on 17-32 (53.1%) of their shots.
 
Dion led all scorers with 24 points, while Howes added nine points and 10 boards in the loss.
