Women's Swimming Edged by Norwich, 140-136

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - October 26, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming team was edged by Norwich, 140-136, in the team's first road competition.

RESULTS

First-year Rebecca Lee began the meet for the Chargers by taking first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with an impressive time-drop of over 17 seconds that helped her record a season best mark of 11:53.95. Later in the meet, Lee followed with a 100-yard freestyle victory in a time of 1:00.96.

In the 200-yard freestyle, the Chargers claimed second and third, with senior Cassie Lewis taking second with a season-best of 2:26.60 and Lauren Berry finishing in 2:36.46.

First-year Leilani Marlow won the 50 backstroke in a time of 30.08, with junior Zoe Daudier taking third in 32.69. Marlow also swam to a victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.34.

Lee continued her impressive showing by taking second in the 50 breaststroke with a season best time of 36.85.

First-year Nina Boudreau posted a season best time of 1:05.21 en route to a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly.

Junior Zoe Daudier swam to a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while dropping over 25 seconds for a season-best time of 6:02.51.

One of the most impressive performances of the day, however, came in the 50-yard butterfly. The Chargers took first, second, and third by way of junior Jinnae Jang, first-year Gracie O'Callaghan, and first-year Mary Steward. Jang produced a season-best of 27.91, with O'Callaghan taking second in 29.41 and Steward following in third with 30.40.

The women closed out the meet by taking first and second in the 400 freestyle relay. The winning team of O'Callaghan, Marlow, Boudreau, and Jang took first in 4:01.54. Finishing in the runner up spot, was the group of Daudier, Lee, Steward, and sophomore Alyssa Brown in 4:11.21.

After the meet, head Coach Connie Kohrs, Jr. was once again impressed by the season-bests the women continued to produce. "The women continued rolling through season bests. We had an opportunity to weigh this against a Norwich team at full strength."

Colby-Sawyer will return to the Knight Natatorium next Saturday to host Saint Michael's.
