NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 19, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming team was defeated by a strong Assumption College team of Division II, 151-67, despite multiple season-best times.
The Chargers will head to Norwich next Saturday for a 1 pm meet with the Cadets.
RESULTS
The Chargers began competition with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The relay comprised of junior
Jinnae Jang (Fall River, Mass.), first-years
Gracie O'Callaghan (Waltham, Mass.) and
Nina Boudreau (Hallowell, Maine), and sophomore
Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 1:59.83.
Jang took third place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:10.18, while junior
Zoe Daudier (Milford, N.H.) placed fourth with a season-best time of 2:16.86.
Boudreau took on the challenge of the 200-yard butterfly, placing third with a time of 2:34.31.
O'Callaghan took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 27.19.
Brown finished in the third-place spot of the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 58.08.
Jang and Daudier placed first and second, respectively, in the 50-yard butterfly with Jang swimming to a victory in 28.53 and Daudier claiming second in 31.78.
The Chargers finished the meet with a 1-2 place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The first place team of Jang, Boudreau, Brown, and O'Callaghan won by 12 seconds, with a time of 1:47.76. Daudier, first-year
Mary Steward (Saco, Maine), sophomore
Lauren Berry (Dracut, Mass.), and first-year
Rebecca Lee (Redding, Conn.) combined for second in 1:59.80.
Head coach Connie Kohrs, Jr. was very proud of the way the women's team performed today against a Division II opponent. After the competition, coach Kohrs explained further. "Against the defending Division II Northeast-10 conference champions, the women had mostly season best times, swimming their hearts out when behind. They showed a toughness indicative of a conference championship team."
