Field Hockey Suffers 3-0 Setback at Regis

WESTON, Mass. - October 19, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team suffered a 3-0 setback at Regis in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon. 

Regis improves to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the GNAC. The Pride host Rivier on Thursday. Colby-Sawyer falls to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Chargers return home tomorrow for a non-conference game against UMaine-Farmington at noon. 

The Pride struck for a pair of goals in the opening quarter and never looked back. Sheridan Blaha put Regis on top 5:31 into the game with her 13th goal of the season. The play was assisted by Nora Buck. Less than six minutes later, the Pride doubled their lead when Blaha set up teammate Jamie Juskiewicz in front of the cage. Juskiewicz deposited her third goal of the season to send the Pride into the halftime break in front 2-0. 

Regis held a slim 7-6 edge in shots, while Colby-Sawyer had seven penalty corners to the Pride's one. 

The home team turned up the offensive pressure in the second half and outshot the Chargers 15-4. The Pride added an insurance goal late in the third quarter off the stick of Juskiewicz.

Regis goalie Hope Winkin earned the win with three saves. Sarah Tetrault chipped in with a defensive save. Colby-Sawyer goalie Abby Ladd recorded a season high 11 saves.
